Some of you know firsthand that when I dislike something, I really despise it. Because I’m very much in tune with my negative views, rarely am I hard pressed to explain why I don’t care for something. However, I was a bit stumped this morning when confronted with a question about the RHOA.

Comparatively speaking, look at the three side by side, which one would you least like to smack?

Hmm! A deliciously wicked question. Right up my alley. Shoulda been an easy one for ME to answer…but it wasn’t. At that moment I was thinking but I want to smack all three, that can’t be an option? I gave it some thought. Decisions, decisions! And a little more thought. Who would it be? Finally I decided that choosing the lesser of 3 evils is impossible for me to do as I find them all extremely grating. But that’s just me. Now I’m curious to know what you think.

PRINCIPAL H: Welcome! Have a seat. How are you?

KR: wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah

PRINCIPAL H: Great! I’m glad to hear that. You’re probably wondering why you’re here. Let me explain. I had been receiving complaints about your lackluster live vocal performances for some time and I felt it important enough to look into the matter personally.

KR: (shocked) wah wah wah wah wah (agitated) wah wah wah wah wah wah

PRINCIPAL H: Well, who said it is unimportant. Let’s not get sidetracked. As I was saying, I had received some complaints, the most recent about a botched national anthem, and decided it was time to look into the matter and review the evidence. Ya know I had defended you on numerous occasions but I was persuaded to check the video files after catching the brief clip of your halftime performance that aired on Monday Night Football between the Dolphins and the Pats. Principal H was not pleased. I saw loads of energy but the vocals?? Oh my! I shuddered. So, I analyzed a few vids and upon review, my investigation revealed a small problem that is cause for concern. (pause) How can I put this delicately? That vocal tone of yours that sounds so sweet and sexy in the studio turns tart and sour live.

KR: (stunned) wah wah wah wah….

Ginsu knives sharpened? Check.  Contempt, hostility, slow burning anger at full strength and ready for release? Check and check. Target acquired? Check. Ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight? *evil grin; shawn’s devilish laugh*

Last night I sat in the ready position, prey in sight, ready to pounce. I had a taste for blood. I had been waiting all week to see Top Chef: Just Desserts’ newest episode for the sole purpose of ripping cheftestant Seth to shreds. He needed to go and I was going to despise him as much and as hard as I could until he was officially sent packing. His continuously obnoxious behavior including fits of crying, fits of rage (‘roid rage perhaps), screaming at other cheftestants, snapping at judges and complete disregard for challenge rules had grown extremely tiresome. I hoped. I believed. I waited patiently for you to arrive. I knew you’d come in the nick of time like you always do. My faith had always been rewarded so my expectant heart didn’t falter when things didn’t look promising. I hoped. I believed. Patiently I waited, refusing to give in to doubt…please, I need you I prayed. And just like time’s past my prayers were answered. You came. You came to save me. More importantly, you came to help restore balance and order and breathe life in to R&B/Soul music. It’s been excruciating to witness R&B’s continued decline as it dies a slow and painful death. But you have always been a trusted gatekeeper. One of those Artists that has done a stellar job preserving the legacy of the art form. Passionately carrying the torch until it’s time to pass it off to the next generation of R&B/Soul Artists. Your service has not gone unnoticed. You’ve been a faithful steward.

It’s been five years since we last heard from you after releasing the well received The First Lady. It was your first project following an exit from Puffy’s Bad Boy imprint and it showed that you were not one of Puff’s marketing projects. The soulful vocal stylings, songwriting, arrangement and syrupy, rich harmonies…the Faith sound was very much intact. The album was a little uneven but had a clear direction. I saw the vision but in truth, the project relied more heavenly on uptempos than previous releases and it suffered because of that. Moreover, it lacked the right mix of uptempo jams to truly complement the project’s standout mid-tempos and ballads. I was slightly underwhelmed at first listen but still it was a solid effort and I was a content fan. Like any fan, I soon found my jams. “Stop n Go” and “Again” were instant faves, on repeat jams. Welcome to the He Hates Everything blog. I don’t have the entire vision for what I want to do nor where I want to go with this blog but I hope to have a good time on the journey.

Many that know me feel as if I am the hardest person on earth to please. I would beg differ. I am just very opinionated about what I do and do not like is all. Hey, I think I just heard several of you scoff, even if I can’t see your faces. To that I say, zip it. You know I’m telling the truth. Now it is very true that when I start one of my rants, occasionally, I will keep going and going and going and going. But that rarely happens. *wink*

One day I was joking with a buddy and said “i should start a blog called he hates everything and rag on the things that bother me.” And that’s how it all began. Soon as I mentioned the idea to other friends they chuckled and pushed me to follow through on the idea. So I did. Now I have a blog. Yet I hate writing. Go figure! I’m talker not a writer. We’ll see how this all goes and how long this will last. LOL! But for now I’m here.
